Refuse to Participate in the Recession

Must you buy into the hairy-scary recession rhetoric? No! Refuse to Participate in the Recession!

There is an economic downturn going on. So what?! Even during the Great Depression, the economy did not come to a screeching halt; it slowed, yes -- that's a fact. Unemployment hit 25% - egads! Flip that, though: 75%, i.e.: three fourths - a vast majority of people were still working. And let's be honest here: In 1929, most of the panic was tied to a stock market crash, initiated by greed: Folk bought stock on margin, with few resources to back up a call. (If I remember my history correctly). Eerily familiar, humm? The government was asleep at the wheel, thereby trusting Wall Street to "do the right thing," that first time, way back in 1929. Thus, the SEC was born. Still, greedy unscrupulous folk will always seek and find a new way to beat the system.
Let's all be more vigilant this time around.

Now, back to the subject at hand. Refuse to participate in this recession. If you have the cash, go buy what you need and want. Be smart about it though -- don't raid the cash in your business or your savings. Do keep 6 to 18 months operating cash, if you have it right now. (I know. Some of you do not have it. Don't shoot the messenger.)

Go after new business agressively. Use every resource and channel available to you. Explore new ones, in fact. The greatest difference between 1929, 1969, or any other time, and NOW: Information at the speed of light. That's both a blessing and a curse, which is why I say "refuse to participate!" Ignore the doom and gloom news reports and be about YOUR business.

"Your success will not be dependent on the state of the economy, what careers are currently in demand, or what the job market is like. You will not be hindered by what people think you are capable of or your initial lack of resources." Words of wisdom, from Dr. Myles Munroe, business consultant and author.

So, go grow your business.
